Another Spectacular Outdoor Cathedral Wedding at Historic Cedarwood

I officiated what I believe was my third wedding ceremony at Historic Cedarwood with the outdoor cathedral - what I might call less elegantly "church out in the yard". You can see some photos below. It is very nice and is becoming a popular option at this Nashville wedding venue.

It was a beautiful evening for the wedding. While it had cooled off, the wind hand died down and it was very pleasant out.

This couple did do something in their ceremony which I had not seen before.

Toward the beginning of the ceremony they released butterflies to represent the presence of the spirits of their loved ones who had passed away. Somewhat frequently couples will have me mentioned loved ones as part of the welcome part of the ceremony, but the butterfly release did add something a little special.

You've probably seen other ways couples do this including placing a rose in an empty seat or having photos of their family members set up somewhere at the reception. While the butterflies didn't seem to want to fly away right away, that in itself might have been symbolic.
